BENEFICIARIES

Crape Myrtle Festival’s court of volunteers works diligently each year to raise as much money as possible to give back to our community. Does your agency support LGBTQ+ and/or HIV related causes?

Our annual grant application process starts in September and closes mid-November with a celebration of the beneficiaries for the year. The general timetable is:

  • September 1: Annual CMF grant application released 

  • October 15: Application submission deadline

  • November 1: Application awards determined and beneficiaries notified

  • Mid-November:  Harvest Tea - a celebration with CMF volunteers and grant recipients with a check presentation. The exact date of this event is promoted each year via social media, website postings, and email correspondence.


2023-2024

CMF’s 2023-2024 fundraising year allowed us to give over $81,000 to 10 non-profits across North Carolina serving people living with HIV and the LGBTQ+ community:

A Place Called Hope

A Place Called Hope Church is an affirming ministry that is open to all people. Our grant funded activities are separate from our religious activities when serving our community. We are a culture of Love & Hope. We provide demonstrations of Christ's unconditional love, offering All God's children Hope!

Gay For Good Raleigh-Durham

Gay for Good organizes inclusive volunteer events for LGBTQ+ volunteers and allies to connect, network and have fun while proudly serve a wide range of nonprofits across the broader Raleigh-Durham community.

RAIN

RAIN’s mission is to empower people living with HIV and those at risk to be healthy, and stigma-free. Serving the Mecklenburg County area since 1992, we have successfully addressed clients' diverse needs, offering access to medical care, medications, and emergency assistance for rent, utilities, and food. Our commitment to integrity and compassion is evident in the quality outcomes of our HIV services. Our comprehensive approach includes reducing HIV stigma through community education and advocacy. We empower clients to recognize and combat HIV stigma, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment. All our services are available in person and through telehealth, offered in both English and Spanish to ensure accessibility for all.

At LILA (Latinx LGBTQI+), we strive to protect the rights of Latinx LGBTQI+ individuals, their families, and friends by advocating for laws and policies that ensure their safety. We also work to raise awareness and educate the broader community to combat discrimination and stigma. Our ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone's voice is heard and the stories and experiences of LGBTQI+ individuals are acknowledged, respected, and valued. Our work focuses on three key areas: Health, Education, and Advocacy.

Carolinas CARE Partnership

Carolinas CARE Partnership is a longstanding center for people living with, or at risk of,HIV and LGBTQ+ communities. We provide wraparound services for every step of a person’s unique journey and create affirming spaces for folx to connect with one another. We, at CCP, love and honor your authentic self and aim to provide the best services for all.

The LGBT Center of Raleigh is a community-based organization that serves the queer and trans communities of the triangle and surrounding areas through 20 programs that strengthen individual and community development through social and educational activities. The Center works to identify needs and for resources benefiting the LGBTQ+ community, their friends and supporters within and beyond central North Carolina.

Loving Food Resources

The mission of Loving Food Resources is to provide food, health, and personal care items to those living with HIV/AIDS or anyone in Home Hospice Care regardless of diagnosis. We strive to do this while showing love, compassion, and respect to everyone.

Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP)

Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP) has over 35 years experience coordinating care and prevention services for people living with and affected by HIV across our southern Appalachian mountain region. Our mission is to provide equitable access to care and reduce harm from HIV, Hepatitis C, and drug use. WNCAP has a long history of working with historically marginalized populations. Most clients are under-employed, under-insured, and medically vulnerable. Food insecurity and housing instability are prevalent. Isolation is common due to geographic location, homophobia, transphobia, and/or the deeply rooted stigma surrounding HIV, drug use, and mental health conditions. Services offered include HIV case management and housing assistance, food distribution, prevention, education, HIV/STD testing, harm reduction services, and a subsidized pharmacy program for people across 18 western North Carolina counties including the Qualla Boundary. WNCAP has offices in Asheville and Franklin, North Carolina, and has a mobile unit that travels to three additional counties.

GoalFriends Foundation

The GoalFriends Global Foundation is dedicated to empowering women, using a program methodology within the prison system, transitions homes,  as well as underserved women and children, by providing the support and education needed to overcome challenges and transform their lives. Through our certification program, we equip trainers and Peer Mentor inmates to deliver the GoalFriends Empowerment Program, fostering skills in goal-setting, dream-building, and personal growth. We work to support smooth transitions, addressing issues such as low self-efficacy, confidence and basic empowerment strategies to create impact. By building a strong, supportive community, we aim to inspire lasting change, empowering individuals to realize their potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
